Teeth Whitening Can Bring Dramatic Results
Teeth whitening is the fastest, easiest, least expensive way to immediately improve your smile. The results can be dramatic. Without intervention, your teeth might have darkened to the color of a manila envelop by the time you reach the age of forty-five. Smoking and drinking dark liquids (such as tea, coffee and cola) take their toll, but color change, unfortunately, comes naturally with age, no matter what your diet or habits are. However, it’s easy to reverse the color, with a simple teeth whitening process – we provide the supplies, and you do the whitening at home. If you’re interested in whitening your teeth, we examine your teeth and gums to assure that you’re a good candidate for teeth whitening (don’t worry – most people are).
Zoom Whitening
At our dental office, we’re pleased to offer Zoom whitening, which is a laser whitening system that was made popular on the televsion show, “Extreme Makeover.” In just a single dental visit, we can whiten your teeth to create a beautiful smile. Depending on the shade and level of staining, the whitening process takes about 30-60 minutes. The Zoom whitening system uses a highly concentrated whitening formula, in conjunction with a high intensity light, called a laser light. The results are fast and spectacular!
Custom Teeth Whitening Kits
If you’d prefer to whiten your smile at home, we also offer custom teeth whitening kits. This whitening process involves taking an impression of your teeth to fabricate custom whitening trays that fit your teeth snugly. A few days later, you return to our office to receive the custom trays, teeth whitening gel, and instructions. All of this is supervised by one of our dentists, Dr. O’Leary or Dr. Peppler. By wearing the trays for an hour or so each day, you should see striking results within a week. And, you can apply teeth whitening touch-ups for years to come, acting as your own “cosmetic dentist.”
Store-Bought Teeth Whitening Products – Not As Safe Or Effective
Because the trays that come with store-bought, teeth whitening kits aren’t custom-fit, much of the chemicals designed to whiten your teeth can end up in your stomach and/or cause gum irritation or chemical burns. Also, if you have dental crowns, veneers, bonds, or fillings, they might not whiten easily, if at all. If you’re not careful, whitening toothpastes and overnight bleaching strips or trays could cause a checker-board effect of color.
